FORT FUN Abenteuerland will start its 2026 season on March 28, 2026, coinciding with the beginning of the Easter holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia. The theme park in the Sauerland region is expanding its offering this year with several new additions for different target groups. These include a new virtual reality attraction, a dog playground, new family-friendly areas and improvements to the SpeedSnake roller coaster.
New VR attraction “FORT VentuRe”
One of the biggest additions this season is the new virtual reality attraction “FORT VentuRe”, opening inside the saloon in the park’s western-themed area. The new indoor experience combines the atmosphere of the Wild West with modern VR technology.
Using VR headsets, motion tracking and hand controllers, visitors enter interactive virtual worlds. Guests can experience various missions and adventures in a 360-degree environment with real-time interaction. The attraction is based on the award-winning YULLBE VR system, which is also known from Europa-Park.
The experience is available as an add-on to the park ticket and is aimed at families, groups of friends, school classes and companies.
Germany’s first dog playground in a theme park
Another new addition is specifically designed for visitors with dogs. With the planned opening of a premium dog playground, FORT FUN aims to introduce the first dog playground within a theme park in Germany.
The new area is designed to meet the needs of both dogs and their owners, offering additional comfort during a park visit. In the long term, the park aims to position itself as one of the most dog-friendly theme parks in Europe. Further details about this offering will be announced at a later date.
New family play area
New offerings are also being introduced for families with younger children. A new play area is being developed next to the La Cascada restaurant.
The area will include age-appropriate play equipment, a small duck-themed water attraction and an upgraded dining area with a covered terrace. A separate space for children’s birthday parties is also planned. The goal is to enhance comfort and create a more relaxing environment for families.
Roller coaster “SpeedSnake” receives upgraded station
The looping roller coaster SpeedSnake will receive several visual and functional improvements for the 2026 season.
The station will be updated with a new roof and new signage. In addition, the overall design will be modernized and enhanced with new decorative elements.
The queue area will also be improved, featuring new sun protection, updated landscaping and additional theming elements. New sound effects in the station are intended to further enhance the ride experience.
New digital parking system “FreeFlow”
For the 2026 season, FORT FUN will also introduce a new digital parking system. The barrier-free system “FreeFlow” is designed to enable faster and more convenient use of the park’s approximately 450 parking spaces.
Cameras automatically capture license plates at entry and exit points, eliminating barriers, parking tickets and waiting times at machines. At the same time, the system is intended to reduce traffic congestion, noise and emissions in the entrance area.
Events from Easter to Halloween
In addition to its attractions, FORT FUN will once again host a range of events throughout the 2026 season.
The season begins with the traditional Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Children up to the age of 12 can search for colorful surprises starting at 11:00 AM in the Adventure Area. Whoever finds the golden egg wins a basic annual pass for FORT FUN.
Later in the season, events such as the Mexican Summer in August and the Halloween event FORT FEAR in October will take place.
With its new attractions, expanded family offerings and technical improvements, FORT FUN Abenteuerland continues to develop its portfolio for the 2026 season, combining classic theme park experiences with modern attractions.
