Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Oberhausen is already set to receive its next major attraction in 2027. A new family roller coaster called “Karlchens Zugabe” is scheduled to open around Easter 2027. The coaster is being developed in collaboration with German manufacturer ART Engineering and will expand the attraction lineup at the park, which only opened in summer 2026.

Karls owner Robert Dahl announced the new roller coaster in an Instagram Reel a few days ago. According to Dahl, the contracts for the project have already been signed. Karls is currently in talks with the city of Oberhausen, while the detailed construction plans for the new attraction are being finalized.

“Karlchens Zugabe” will be a Family Launch Coaster by ART Engineering

“Karlchens Zugabe” will be a Family Launch Coaster from German manufacturer ART Engineering. The new roller coaster will use an existing layout from the manufacturer that can also be found on “Fridolin’s verrückter Zauberexpress” at Fantasiana in Austria.

The layout features a track length of 245 meters (804 ft) and reaches a maximum height of 12 meters (39 ft). During the ride, the train accelerates to a top speed of 50 km/h (31 mph).

The new roller coaster will feature a music theme. One of its most distinctive elements will be the planned station building, which will be designed to resemble a giant 1990s-style boombox.

New roller coaster to provide additional capacity

Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Oberhausen only opened in summer 2026, close to Westfield Centro. It is the company’s first location in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Robert Dahl cited the positive response to the new location as one of the reasons for the rapid expansion. The high number of visitors is already resulting in longer wait times for the existing attractions. “Karlchens Zugabe” is therefore intended to provide additional capacity while further expanding the park’s attraction lineup.

Alongside the roller coaster, Karls is also planning a smaller new food and beverage concept. Further details about the concept have not yet been announced.

“Karlchens Zugabe” scheduled to open at Easter 2027

If the project progresses as planned, “Karlchens Zugabe” is scheduled to open at Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Oberhausen around Easter 2027. This would add another major ride to the relatively new location less than a year after it first opened.

Further details about the roller coaster’s theming and the accompanying food and beverage concept are expected to be announced at a later date.
