The Dutch theme park Toverland near Venlo will say goodbye to one of its most popular attractions in 2026: Maximus’ Blitz Bahn will be replaced by a new bobsled ride. With the “Swinging Bobsled,” the park is introducing a further development of the existing concept, set to open in the upcoming winter season.

Farewell to Maximus’ Blitz Bahn in May 2026

After around eleven years of operation, Maximus’ Blitz Bahn will have its final rides on May 17, 2026. To mark the occasion, the park is planning a special farewell event with entertainment and themed activities. The character Maximus Müller will also be part of the celebration.

According to the park, it was time to replace the attraction after years of intensive use. At the same time, the popular concept of an interactive bobsled ride will remain part of the park’s offering.

New attraction “Swinging Bobsled”

With the Swinging Bobsled, Toverland is developing a new generation of bobsled rides together with ETF Ride Systems.

The core concept remains the same: visitors can still control the speed of their vehicle individually. However, unlike the previous attraction, the new vehicles will run on rails instead of a traditional trough.

The existing layout and the covered structure will be retained, allowing the ride to operate in all weather conditions.

A key difference lies in the ride experience: the track tilts inward on curves, which is intended to make the ride both more intense and more comfortable.

New vehicles with dynamic movement

The new attraction will feature completely redesigned vehicles. Each bobsled accommodates two riders seated one behind the other.

A standout feature is the dynamic movement: depending on speed, the vehicles can swing outward at various points along the track. This is designed to create a more lively and dynamic ride experience.

A minimum speed will also be implemented to increase capacity and allow more guests to ride per hour.

Theming in the Wunderwald area

The Swinging Bobsled will remain part of the Wunderwald themed area. The attraction continues to be embedded in the world of the eccentric inventor Maximus Müller.

The new vehicles will feature a steampunk design, fitting seamlessly into the existing theme. Further details about the storyline as well as the final name of the attraction will be announced at a later date.

Opening planned for the winter season

Construction will begin after the closure of the current attraction in May 2026. The new Swinging Bobsled is scheduled to open in the upcoming winter season.

With this new addition, Toverland is modernizing a popular ride and combining familiar elements with new technical approaches to further enhance the guest experience.
