Tomorrow’s the Day: Holiday Park Becomes Plopsaland Deutschland!
What’s behind the name change and what does it mean for the park? We’ve got the full story!
What is Plopsa?
Holiday Park first opened its gates in 1971 in Haßloch, in the southern part of Rhineland-Palatinate. In November 2010, the family-run amusement park was sold to Belgian media company Studio 100 and its theme park subsidiary Plopsa. Under the Plopsa brand, Studio 100 operates several amusement parks across Europe featuring popular children’s licenses like Vicky the Viking, Maya the Bee, and Heidi. Since the acquisition, over €50 million have been invested in the park. New attractions such as Majaland (2011/2012), the launch coaster Sky Scream (2014), the Holiday Indoor hall (2018), and the Wickieland (2021) have all been added.
Why is Holiday Park becoming Plopsaland?
In response to mixed public reactions to the renaming, Holiday Park posted a video on Instagram featuring Bernd Beitz, Managing Director of Plopsa Germany, explaining the reasoning behind the change:
“Unser neuer Name Plopsaland Deutschland beinhaltet drei wichtige Bestandteile. Zum einen das Wort Plopsa signalisiert die Zugehörigkeit zur Plopsa-Gruppe. Das Wort Land zeigt viel mehr Magie als unser alter Name Park. Und das Wort Deutschland signalisiert, dass wir den regionalen Charakter erhalten werden und weiterhin ein eigenständiger Park sein werden.“
“Our new name Plopsaland Deutschland contains three key elements. First, the word Plopsa signals our affiliation with the Plopsa group. Second, the word Land evokes more magic than our previous name Park. And third, Deutschland shows that we’re keeping our regional character and will remain a park with its own identity.”

What will change?
Plopsa has big plans for the future of the newly named Plopsaland. Last year, a masterplan with a budget of €80 million was unveiled: “Ein großer Wasserpark, mehrere neue Themenbereiche, neue Kinderhelden und Attraktionen erwarten die Gäste in den nächsten Jahren. Zudem wird das aktuelle Angebot im Park weiter aufgewertet und in die Infrastruktur investiert.”
“A large water park, several new themed areas, beloved children’s characters and attractions will be added in the coming years. On top of that, the current offerings will be upgraded and investments will be made in infrastructure.”
