Paultons Park in Romsey, England, is set to open a brand-new themed area on May 16, 2026. It will be called “Valgard: Realm of the Vikings” and will feature three major new attractions, including two roller coasters. There will also be a new playground and a new restaurant to round out the themed area. As the name suggests, everything here revolves around the Viking era.

Drakon

Drakon will be Paultons Park’s first thrill coaster and is not for the weak. This Euro-Fighter-style roller coaster from Gerstlauer features a vertical lift and a drop steeper than 90 degrees, reaching a height of 23 meters. Along the rest of the track, there are two inversions (upside-down elements) in the form of a step-up under flip and a zero-G stall. The ride’s motto is: “Face the fury of the beast on Drakon, the crown jewel of Valgard!”. You can ride if you’re at least 1.25 meters tall when accompanied by an adult, and even ride alone if you’re at least 1.40 meters tall.

Raven

In that sense, Raven isn’t a new roller coaster at the park; rather, it has been refurbished for the new themed area. It is a Gerstlauer bobsled coaster and is perfect for the whole family. The track is 450 meters long, 16.5 meters high, and reaches a speed of 50 km/h. The ride features “Wild Mouse” curves, small hills, and rapid descents. Children must be at least 1.10 meters tall to ride.

Vild Swing

Vild Swing is a Wild Swing ride manufactured by Art Engineering. It is the first of its kind in the UK, though the giant swings have grown significantly in popularity at European amusement parks in recent years. The gondola swings up to 12 meters high, offering fun for all ages.

The Orchard Playground

The new playground is designed especially for little Vikings and adventurers ages 3 to 10. It features an observation tower to climb, slides, swings, and plenty of other climbing opportunities.

Feasting Hall

The new restaurant Feasting Hall offers a wide variety of food and drinks. From burgers and chicken to wraps and bowls, and everything in between, including salads and desserts—there’s something for everyone. Every Viking will leave satisfied!
