The Dutch theme park Efteling is introducing several new additions in 2026. Alongside a new family attraction and a new park show, additional projects for late 2026 and 2027 have already been announced.

New family drop tower attraction “Hooghmoed” opens

In early May 2026, Efteling officially opened the new drop tower attraction “Hooghmoed” in the themed area surrounding the popular roller coaster Baron 1898.

The attraction is primarily aimed at younger visitors and is accessible from a height of 90 centimeters. Hooghmoed consists of three towers, each standing twelve meters tall. Up to 30 guests can ride at the same time, while the maximum drop height reaches six meters.

The attraction is themed as part of the gold smelter from the world of Baron 1898. Sound effects, fog and smoke create an immersive experience in which visitors take on the role of chimney sweeps.

New illusion show “Magicaluna” at the Efteling Theater

Back in March, the new show “Magicaluna” premiered at the Efteling Theater.

The approximately 20-minute non-verbal illusion show combines choreography, music and visual effects into a fantasy-filled experience. The show is aimed at the whole family and is performed free of charge three times per day.

The story follows a girl who enters a magical dream world. According to the park, the production is intended to expand Efteling’s entertainment offering and bring a new experience to the theater.

Raveleijn redevelopment with new attraction planned for late 2026

A larger project currently underway focuses on the Raveleijn themed area, which is being extensively redeveloped.

Plans include a complete redesign of the area, including a new version of the park show featuring an updated story and new effects. The show is expected to run more frequently and almost year-round in the future.

In addition, a new attraction is being built outside the existing arena. The ride is described as a rotating flight experience designed to create an intense sensation. No further official details have been revealed so far.

The expansion will also include new food and beverage offerings as well as a new shop. The renewed themed area is scheduled to open in late 2026.

New additions coming to the Fairy Tale Forest in 2027

The park is also continuing its long-term development plans. Several changes to the Fairy Tale Forest are planned for 2027.

The area surrounding the fairy tale “The Chinese Nightingale” will be redesigned. The current building housing the attraction will be replaced, while the fairy tale itself will return in a new form. At the same time, the Fairy Tale Library will become the park’s 32nd fairy tale attraction.

Construction work began in March 2026.

Continuous development of the park

With new attractions, shows and long-term projects, Efteling continues to expand its offering over the coming years. The park is focusing both on new experiences for younger visitors and on the further development of existing themed areas and classic attractions.
