There are exciting announcements and already implemented changes at the Dutch theme park Efteling: A brand-new attraction for next year has been announced, a popular classic has been updated, and a new virtual queue has been introduced.

New Attraction Coming Summer 2026

As confirmed by Efteling last week, a brand-new attraction will be built next summer in the themed area surrounding the dive coaster Baron 1898. The new ride will feature three family freefall towers from German manufacturer Zierer. A similar attraction already exists at Phantasialand in Brühl near Cologne – though only with two towers. Efteling has likely opted for a three-tower setup to allow for greater capacity. In theory, up to 600 people per hour will be able to ride.

The attraction is set to be built right next to the drop section of the popular coaster and will be visually integrated into the existing themed area. A first impression of what the finished ride might look like is provided by a concept drawing that shows the attraction fully themed. Construction is scheduled to begin after the summer holidays in 2025.

New Scene in De Vliegende Hollander

De Vliegende Hollander is a combination of roller coaster and water ride with an atmospheric indoor section. Since its opening in 2007, it has been a favorite among Efteling visitors – and has now received another upgrade.

The highlight of the refurbishment is a brand-new scene inside the ghost ship, where the boat passes through fire, smoke, and debris – a dark glimpse into the soul of the cursed captain.

The attraction will reopen its doors on April 18, 2025.

Refurbished Souvenir Shop

As part of the improvements to De Vliegende Hollander, the accompanying souvenir shop ’t Boeghbeeld has also been completely redesigned. Themed as a woodcarver’s workshop at the harbor, the shop now welcomes guests with a wider façade, a new canopy, and maritime decorative elements.

In front of the store, barrels display themed souvenirs. Inside, a new counter provides more space, while the optimized interior layout and expanded product range invite guests to browse.

Virtual Queue for Danse Macabre

As of yesterday, the new spooky experience Danse Macabre, which opened last year, offers a new way to skip the regular queue – and it’s free of charge.

A virtual queue is now available in addition to the regular one. Via the Efteling app, you can easily reserve a time slot and use your waiting time elsewhere. You’ll receive a notification in the app when it’s your turn.

Of course, you can still choose to wait in the regular queue or join the Single Rider line.
