Europa-Park has announced the first new additions for the 2027 season. Three new or revamped family attractions are set to open next year. A new giant swing from ART Engineering is coming to the Portuguese themed area, while Iceland will receive an interactive tower attraction. At the same time, the “Piccolo Mondo” gondola ride in the Italian themed area, which has been entertaining guests for more than 40 years, will undergo a major refurbishment.

New Wild Swing XL coming to the Portuguese themed area

One of the three new additions will be located in the Portuguese themed area, where Europa-Park will build a Wild Swing XL from German manufacturer ART Engineering. The giant swing will stand 14.5 metres tall and swing directly above the Portuguese lake.

The Wild Swing XL is the larger version of ART Engineering’s family ride. Its free-swinging gondola accommodates a total of 24 passengers seated in two rows facing each other. The attraction does not feature any inversions and is designed to offer a family-friendly ride experience.

The new attraction will be themed around the light-hearted spirit of the Portuguese coast, creative ingenuity and an extraordinary story of invention. Europa-Park has not yet revealed any further details about the specific theming.

New interactive tower attraction for Iceland

The Icelandic themed area will also receive a new family attraction in 2027. The new tower will be built between the “WODAN – Timburcoaster” wooden roller coaster and the “blue fire Megacoaster”, close to the “Whale Adventures – Northern Lights” water ride.

Guests will be able to influence the height or movement of the attraction themselves. From the top, riders will be treated to panoramic views across the Icelandic themed area and its harbour.

Based on the concept art released so far, the attraction resembles a family-friendly parachute tower or observation tower ride. However, Europa-Park has not yet revealed which manufacturer is behind the attraction or exactly how the ride system will work.

“Piccolo Mondo” to be revamped for 2027

The third announced addition concerns the Italian themed area, where the family attraction “Piccolo Mondo” will be revamped and return in a new form in 2027.

The origins of the current gondola ride date back to 1982, when the attraction originally opened as “Schlaraffenland”. It was later operated under several names, including “Ciao Bambini”. Today, “Piccolo Mondo” takes guests on a journey through various Italian scenes aboard Venetian gondolas, accompanied by Enzo the parrot.

For 2027, the attraction is set to undergo another major refurbishment. The new version will take families on a journey through Italy, featuring elements such as art, traditional theatre and Italian music.

Europa-Park has not yet revealed the full extent of the changes or which elements of the existing attraction will remain.

More details on Europa-Park’s 2027 additions to follow

With these three family attractions, Europa-Park has provided a first look at what guests can expect in the 2027 season. Specific opening dates and further technical and thematic details have not yet been announced. The park has confirmed that more information will be revealed at a later date.
