Freimarkt Bremen 2026: Dates, Rides, and Important Information

The 2026 Freimarkt Bremen will take place from October 16 to November 1. In addition to various rides and food stands, there will be an extensive program of events, including activities themed around Halloween.


Opening Hours and Event Dates

Freimarkt at the Bürgerweide

Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Friday and Saturday, 1:00 p.m. – midnight

Exceptions at the Bürgerweide:

On opening day, Friday, October 16, the event begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Bürgerweide.

On Saturday, October 24, the Freimarkt will open at 12:00 p.m. due to the Freimarkt parade.

Small Freimarkt on the Marktplatz

Daily from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Friday, October 16: Opening
At 3:00 p.m., the small Freimarkt opens on the Marktplatz, and at 4:00 p.m., the Bremen Freimarkt opens on the Bürgerweide. To celebrate the occasion, there will be a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m.


Wednesday, October 21: Werder Day
Anyone who comes to the Freimarkt wearing an SV Werder Bremen jersey or scarf will receive great discounts.


Saturday, October 24: Parade
At 10 a.m., the festive parade will start on Pappelstraße and then head toward the market square.


Wednesday, October 28: Halloween
Halloween is also celebrated at the Freimarkt. There will be activities such as face painting for kids, a kids’ spooky parade (4 p.m.), and a horror parade (8 p.m.)


Saturday, October 31: Church Service (11 a.m. at the bumper cars)

Sunday, November 1: Freimarkt Farewell
Starting at 8:30 p.m., there will be a final tour of the Freimarkt.


Directions

Traveling by Car

There is no parking directly at the Freimarkt, as the Bürgerweide parking lot and the trade fair parking garage are not available.

Park+Ride from the University with the Freimarkt Ticket
This year, the P4 parking lot directly on Universitätsallee will be available as a free Park+Ride lot daily from October 17 through November 2, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the following day. BSAG is offering a Park+Ride Freimarkt ticket for Line 6. It costs 4.55 euros and can be purchased at the ticket machines on the trams under “Single Tickets.” The Price Level 1 ticket is valid for a round trip between the University and Hauptbahnhof-Nord/Messe and can also be purchased at any stop in between. The ticket is valid for one adult during the Freimarkt Monday through Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Children under 15 can ride for free on this ticket.


Park+Ride Facilities in Bremen
In addition to the parking lot at the university, there are three other Park+Ride facilities from which the Freimarkt is easily accessible. No special ticket is required here.
P+R Sielhof: via Line 4 or the night line N4
P+R Norderländer Straße (B75): Take lines 1 and N1
P+R Borgfeld: Take lines 4 and N4

Getting There by Public Transportation

By Train: Simply travel to Bremen Central Station, then take the north exit, and you’ll find yourself at Germany’s oldest folk festival. You can find train schedules at www.bahn.de

By bus and train: For visitors from the surrounding area, there are additional return trips on the Regio-S-Bahn trains from Bremen Central Station. The schedule is as follows:


RS2 Bremerhaven: The 1:12 a.m. train runs daily during the Freimarkt. On weekend nights from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday, an additional train departs at 2:12 a.m.


RS1 Bremen-Vegesack: The trains at 1:06 a.m. and 2:06 a.m. run daily during the Freimarkt.


RS1 Verden (Aller): The train at 1:11 a.m. runs daily during the Freimarkt.


N12 Bremen–Brinkum–Kirchweyhe: Additional trips at 10:32 p.m. and
11:32 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Sundays, departing from Bremen Central Station. Scheduled trips run on weekend nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.


Line 226/227 Harpstedt to Bremen and back: On weekend nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, an additional bus departs at 6:50 p.m. from the Freistraße stop in Harpstedt to Bremen Central Station, stopping in Dünsen, Kirchseelte, Fahrenhorst, Heiligenrode, Groß Mackenstedt, and Varreler Landstraße. On the return trip on the same nights, buses depart from Bremen Central Station at 12:10 a.m. and 2:00 a.m.
