Wiener Looping - The New Roller Coaster at Wiener Prater

In spring 2025, the brand-new “Wiener Looping” roller coaster will open at the Wiener Prater in Austria’s capital Vienna. In the following article, you’ll find out everything you need to know about the new main attraction of the amusement park.

The Prater in Vienna (Wurstelprater) is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world still in operation. This year, visitors can look forward to a major new addition. The Wiener Looping is a Big Dipper coaster manufactured by Mack Rides. The track was completed at the end of last year.

The Wiener Looping has a track length of 518 meters and will reach a maximum speed of 81 km/h. During the ride, forces of up to 4.2 g will be experienced. The highest point of the coaster is the lift hill, which stands at 31 meters.

There are two trains, each consisting of two rows with four seats, so that a total of 8 riders can sit per train. One of the trains has the second row of seats facing backwards. This allows visitors who are looking for an extra thrill to experience the entire ride in reverse.

So, what can you expect during the ride?

The Ride

After leaving the station, the train makes a left-hand turn into the lift hill and ascends over a guest pathway to its maximum height. At the top, the train performs a slow 180° left-hand turn before plunging into a 92° drop. An airtime hill takes the train back over the pathway before it dives into a trench and two consecutive inversions: a Banana Roll and an elongated vertical loop. Next, the train follows into a sharply ascending right-hand turn that leads into a dive loop. The ride continues with a counterclockwise helix and another airtime hill before the train enters the final brake run and returns to the station.

Opening of Wiener Looping

An exact opening date for the new roller coaster has not yet been announced. However, the Wiener Looping is expected to open in spring 2025, with the planned opening taking place at the end of April.
